Other legal pathway
Humanitarian pathways
Humanitarian corridors, admission programmes and private sponsorship offer organised, safe routes alongside resettlement.
Types of humanitarian pathway
- Humanitarian corridors: civil society groups and governments agree safe travel and visas for vulnerable people.
- Humanitarian admission: governments admit groups under temporary programmes.
- Private or community sponsorship: groups or individuals support refugees financially and socially.
- Humanitarian visas: special visas for people at risk.
How people are selected
Selection is usually done by governments or partner organisations. Check each programme’s official page for current criteria.
Pathways are in addition to resettlement, not a replacement. Having a place on a pathway does not affect your refugee status.
